If you just uploaded your first story, go to My Works and click the default bookcover to upload your own.

You can't upload a picture from iPhone/iPod currently. You need to do it from a computer.

Things to remember:

1. Make sure the file is in GIF or JPEG format

2. Can only be done via home computer/laptop (no mobile support)

3. If after a few minutes, the cover is still loading, simply refresh the page. The cover should appear.

4. Any type of editing like adding text is done via home tools. Wattpad does not have any editing tools for book covers.

Currently, you can't add a book cover to a story that's not in a story group. Create a Story Group and then add your story as the first part to the group. Then a blank cover image will appear next to your story group on the Uploads screen. Click on the blank cover to upload your cover image.

Very easy thing to do indeed.

Go to where it says Story Groups in the upper right-hand drop down bar. You have to have a story group in order to upload a cover for it. Go to where it says edit and the rest will be clear. You can even right your description there too! Hope this helped! 

You can only add a book cover to a story group, and not to separate uploads that don’t belong to a story group. So, make sure you created a story group first.

To add a book cover to your story group, you click on “Upload”. You can find this in the black bar on top of your screen, or go to “My Works” in the drop down menu, which you can find by going to where it says “Hi ‘your username’”.

Now you’ll have an overview of all your uploads.

Adding a book cover:

By simply clicking on the rectangle that reads “no cover” you can add your book cover. You should see this rectangle on the left, right before the story group title.

Upload a picture:

A pop up will appear and you’ll be asked to upload a picture by browsing through your computer files. For the book cover you need to have the picture saved on your computer instead of using a direct link to the picture online like when you want to add a picture to one of your chapters (see one of previous posts)

Important note: If you want your book cover to be shown properly, it is recommended to use the following dimension: 256x400

Once again, be careful not to use any copyrighted or offensive material!

When you’ve selected your book cover, you can upload it by double-clicking or by ‘opening’ it. Your cover will be added automatically to your story group.

Hi, I've been having problems with uploading book covers. 1. I don't know how to get the right dimension. 2. How to I add the link?  I hope you can help me! I had a cover made for me by someone who has covers, but it didn't upload.

Ok so Im not sure of the actual dimensions that are perfect for creating a well fitted cover. If you have photoshop you can custom set your blank page at international. It's not exact but I've done my banners with that style and it works as long as your pics and info on you banner are somewhat centered so that they don't come off. In inches the width is 4.134 and the height is 5.827. That about all i know but you could probably get more info maybe from the wattpad page on facebook

I'm having problems uploading my cover. It's a multi-chapter story but somehow, the cover doesn't appear no matter how many times I select the photo.....

Okay so I'mm not exactly sure how to fix your problem. But the problem might be that your stories aren't in a story group or your picture that you want to be the cover isn't the right fit, as in its not in a certain format like jpeg, or whatever. Or maybe the problem could be resolved by just logging out and logging back in. Hope this helped!

Alright well i don't c any button on mine at ALL that says story group. I am trying to do a book cover. I click on my works and instead of going on what it's supposed to it goes on make a new story. It's making me mad does someone know what to do in my situation? It would help alot if someone did thank you!

Your supposed to find and make your own. But you can use the help of other wattpaders that are willing to help, some do advertise so you can ask various people. Or find a program that lets you create things yourself.

I have covers to two of my books but for some reason I can't add covers for the rest of them...

Sorry for the trouble again! i managed to successfully upload the book but now I am facing some difficulty in creating a story group. the requirement was to have a title, a describtion, in this story and available . i am not sure what i am suppose to do for 'in this story' and 'available' box. i did see 4 buttons between the 2 boxes. please help me.

@PeaceLoveQueen17 a story group is what's used to keep several chapters/parts of a story in one place. In the my works page, is there an option to add a cover to the right of your story?

i am faced with the same problem as ItsATellTaleSign, no matter how much i click on the upload cover, it uploads but does not show at all.

Now that might work, but as all phones use different OSs to laptops and computer, I doubt it. But then again, apple products all use safari, and blackberries don't. You never know, I might work.

when i upload my cover i want to add the titel to it as well and i can see that everybody eles has 2 , how do i add a titel to my front cover of the book , so that people can read the front

Arfie, neon wants to know how to make one. Sure, she could ask for a book cover, but asking for one rarely gets you the book cover you pictured in your head.

Neonbruise, alright, first of all, you'll need a base image. You could start from scratch, but this is extremely difficult and not even proffesionals do that.

The base image can be a photograph you've taken yourself, or a copyright free (and it must be copyright free) image from the internet. I'd advise searching for stock images on DeviantArt, but make sure that the artist gives permission for the pictures use.

Now, you'll need an image editor. If you a load of money to spare, then you could get photoshop. Or, you could download paint.net ot the GIMP. I use paint.net, modified with several plugins.

A book cover should be about 400x256 pixels, and either a .gif file or a .jpeg file. I'd say use .jpeg, they're much higher quality. Use the image editor, and as many images to put your book cover together. I hope this helps.

I am having trouble uploading my book cover?

I have read previous responses to this thread. They have said to create a story group. I have done so.  So I created the story group and clicked on the link where I can upload my cover. A screen pops up and I see the default wattpadd cover and underneath that the "browser" button and white space. I would upload the file but it wouldn't show.

All images wheere jpeg and/.or gif.

What's going on?

The most likely explanation is that nothing went wrong at all - you just didn't give it enough time. Everyone esle will be able to see the change, just not you. Wait, and come back later. It should be there.

I uploaded a story yesterday and made a cover for it which shows up in 'My Works' on the first one, But won't show up on the actual story which was a draft that I published. There's two pictures if it will help to show what I mean.  Please help?? 

Well, bookcovers can never be put on single part works, does that answer it? I'm a little confused by what you're trying to say.

Could you please explain single parts? I'm really new here. And well I published my story, made a story group, and uploaded my cover and it isn't showing when you try to read the story...

I mean, there is only one "part" to the work. You can add parts (chapters) to works, and these parts are accessible through a drop down menu when you open the story. Do I make sense? I know I can be a bit vague sometimes =)

Oh I get it now... But no it's not a single part :/
