I can't reactivate/restore my account

If you're having issues restoring your account, try these troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Invalid Username

If you are unsure of your username, try logging in using the email that was linked to your account to sign in. 

Step 2: Username is taken

Search for the username you want on Wattpad like this, replacing "yourusername" with the username you're looking for: https://www.wattpad.com/yourusername 

If a profile page is being displayed that isn't yours, it is because another user has taken the username, and you will not be able to restore your account.

Step 3: Email is taken

The email on your closed account might already be linked to an active Wattpad account.

To check if the email is linked to an active account, go to www.wattpad.com/forgot and type in your email address. If you receive a password reset email this is because this email is linked to an active account.

Please note, you can not have more than one active account with the same email! You will have to change the email on the active account or close the active account to restore your closed account. 

Step 4

On some occasions, accounts can be removed by Wattpad for violating our guidelines. Please check your email for any messages from Wattpad about a possible account closure. Please be advised that Wattpad will not remove accounts that have been abandoned or not updated. For more information on deleted content, please the article: Can I restore a deleted story?

Step 5

If your account has been closed for more than six months, it will be permanently deleted. For six months after deactivation, it is still possible to restore your account if it was accidentally or wrongfully deactivated, including re-associating your comments and contributions to your profile. After six months, we permanently delete your Personal Information from our systems, except that your anonymized comments and contributions will remain on the Service.

Make sure that you write the request from the email that your account is linked to.
