At Wattpad, we value the incredible amount of time and dedication that goes into the creation process. Posting content that violates our policies, including our Content Guidelines, and Community Standards is strictly prohibited. Our policy is to respond to valid notices of alleged policy violations we receive by expeditiously investigating the claim, and removing or disabling access to the content or account when a violation is confirmed.
Why was my story/account removed?
Your story and/or account may have been actioned due to a policy violation, or if your content was not rated appropriately. If a removal or closure has occurred, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- Explicit Content (This may include, but is not limited to, Insufficient Plot, Sexual Violence, or Prohibited Content)
- Bullying/Harassment
- Harmful/Hate speech
- Defamation
- Extremism
- Impersonation Accounts
- Release of Personal Information
- Violence
- Self-Harm
- Prohibited Products
- Animal Welfare
- Spam or Advertising - This can include contacting people with unwanted and excessive messages or comments (for example: when promoting a story), using Wattpad for business purposes, violating giveaway policies, vote trading, and more!
- Underage User - The minimum age to join Wattpad is 13. Any accounts discovered to be run by individuals below this age (including joint accounts) will be permanently closed.
Removals and closure can be due to story content, media, comments/messages, or anything you post on any area of your Wattpad profile.
Can I get my story/account/library back if it was removed due to a policy violation?
If the content or account has been removed due to a violation of our policies, we will not be able to restore it to Wattpad. If you are confident you did not violate any guidelines or policies, please file an official Appeal: Appeal Request
Why was my story removed, but not theirs?
Wattpad works hard to take down violations as quickly and accurately as we can, but with the volume of stories on the platform, we may not find every violation without it being reported to us. If you see a policy violation on Wattpad, please do not assume we allow it. Instead, after confirming there is a violation, please report the story. Why didn't I receive an email about my content being removed?
When your story is removed for a violation, you should receive a private message from Wattpad with information on what you can or can't do next. We don't issue warnings prior to deletion due to the volume of content on Wattpad and reports we receive. We must act expeditiously with respect to any violations. If your account has been closed due to a policy violation, you should receive an email to the email address attached to your Wattpad account. Please be sure to check your spam folder.
Why is my favorite Wattpadder's story or account gone?
Unfortunately, due to privacy obligations, we are unable to disclose details of other users' accounts. This includes why content has been removed. You can contact the individual directly to inquire, and we recommend sending them this article should they have any questions.

We always recommend saving any original works you create outside of the Wattpad platform. In the event of an account closure due to a violation of any of our policies, we will not restore or transfer story content, which may include your original works that are not an infraction.
