When you create an account on Wattpad, you will have a username and a name. The name can be referred to as display name, full name, or name, depending on the platform you're using.
Your username is what identifies your account. On your profile, it will be displayed with an @ in front of it. Here are some of the uses of your username:
- To search for your profile or stories you’ve written on Wattpad
- To tag you in comment
- To dedicate a story to you
- To log into your account
Usernames are unique, so no two users have the same one. Learn more about changing your username.
Your display name (also full name, or name) appears only on your profile. Your display name appears above your username and does not begin with an @ symbol. It does not need to be unique to you and can contain spaces or special characters. It cannot be used to search your profile, tag you, dedicate a story to you, or log in.
Find out how to change your display name by selecting the platform you are using:
On iOS
- Go to your profile (tap on your profile picture in the top right of your home feed)
- Tap on
Settings in the top right corner - Select Edit Profile
- Turn on Show Display Name
- Enter your name in the field above
Your name will appear under your profile picture on your profile
On Android
- Go to your profile (tap on your profile picture in the top right of your home feed)
- Tap on Settings
- Select Account Settings
- Tap Full Name
- Enter your new name
- Tap Change
Your name will appear under your profile picture on your profile
On Web
- Click on your username in the top right corner of the screen
- Select My Profile from the drop-down menu
- Click Edit Profile next to your wallet
- Type your new name into the field that says Full Name, under your profile picture
- Click Save Changes
Your name will appear under your profile picture on your profile
