Linking social media accounts

To make it even easier, you can sign up or log in to your account with either Facebook or Google.

When you link your account to social media accounts, it will be displayed on your profile. Linking your account will give you more options to log in, and will help other users find your online presence on other sites.

This article is about linking Facebook and Google to log in. For details on linking to Twitter and other social media, visit Promoting your story.

Facebook/Google details on your account

Facebook

When you sign up, we'll make an account for you with:

  • username = name on Facebook (or name+number(s) if it is already taken)
  • email address = same email address on Facebook
  • date of birth = same on Facebook, if you have one listed

You'll need to set up a:

  • password
  • profile picture
  • background picture

You can set up a password through www.wattpad.com/forgot as we do not sync your password or any additional information from Facebook.

Please note:

  • A link to your Facebook profile will appear on your Wattpad profile
  • If you change your email address on Facebook, you must manually change it on Wattpad

Unfortunately, there is no way to log in with Facebook and not have the link to your Facebook profile show up.

Google

When you sign up, we'll make an account with your email address, but you'll be prompted to pick a:

  • username
  • password
  • gender
  • date of birth
  • profile picture (your Google profile picture will be fed, but you have the option to change it there)

The option to log in via Google is only available on Android devices.
